We are happy to announce that Lovindy Lebalado has joined SCD as our new laboratory technician, where she will assist in the sample processing pipeline and general laboratory maintenance.
Lovindy is originally from Tangerang, a city next to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. After she gained her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science, she became acquainted with molecular biology and decided to pursue a master’s degree. She was granted the StuNed Scholarship and moved to the Netherlands for a master’s degree in Molecular Nutrition and Toxicology at Wageningen University.
During her master thesis, she worked in the Human and Animal Physiology chair group of Wageningen University. Using cell culture and intervention, she looked at the impact of ATP depletion on human epithelial cells. She enjoyed working in the lab using multiple lab techniques during her master thesis and internship period, which develop her interest to work as a technician. After her master’s, she worked as a laboratory technician for the NGS lab in Macrogen Europe B.V. where she was responsible for DNA and RNA QC and performing panel sequencing procedures.
In her spare time, Lovindy enjoys trying and creating new recipes, reading historical romance books, dancing to hip hop and k-pop, and taking care of her plants. She is very excited to join the SCD lab team and learning all the nooks and crannies of single-cell sequencing.
