We are happy to announce that Darina Sikrova, PhD has joined the team as a Scientist in R&D department, where she will work on improving the currently offered methods as well as broadening our portfolio by developing new ones.
She is originally from Slovakia, where she also obtained her BSc at Comenius University in Bratislava after which she went on to do her MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. After staying an extra year in Prague working as a lab technician, she decided to give PhD a try and moved to the Netherlands where she worked in the van der Maarel group at Leiden University Medical Centre. Her research training trajectory had multiple stops, from studying the regulation of eukaryotic translation (MSc), via miRNA-mediated regulation of cell faith in C. elegans (MSc) to investigating the genetic and epigenetic underpinnings of the third most common muscular dystrophy (PhD).
During the train commute to work, Darina Sikrova likes to read books, and in her spare time, she tries to keep her body flexibility and strength by doing occasional yoga.
